Since November 1, 2024, PGWP applicants are required to submit language test results. If you do not hold a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree, you must provide documentation to show that you graduated in an eligible field of study.
Required Documents for PGWP Application:
- Proof of completing studies (degree, diploma, official letter, or transcript).
- Proof of full-time enrollment in a program of 8 months or longer.
- For applications submitted on or after November 1, 2024:
- Proof of language ability.
- Proof of graduating in an eligible field of study if not from a university degree program.
- An upfront medical exam if your job requires one.

- French: TEF Canada, TCF Canada
Your language test results must be less than 2 years old at the time of application.
Eligibility Requirements Based on Study Program:
- Graduates with a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or doctoral degree from a university
- Prove language skills with CLB 7 in English or NCLC 7 in French for all four areas.
- Attend a Quebec DLI with a program of 900+ hours, or a non-Quebec DLI with a program of 8+ months.
- Have no specific field of study requirements if you hold a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree.
2. Graduates of another university program:
- Prove language skills with CLB 7 in English or NCLC 7 in French for all four areas.
- Attend a Quebec DLI with a program of 900+ hours, or a non-Quebec DLI with a program of 8+ months.
- For applications submitted on or after November 1, 2024, graduation in an eligible field of study is required.
3. Graduates from a college program or other non-university program
- Prove language skills with CLB 5 in English or NCLC 5 in French for all four areas.
- Attend a Quebec DLI with a program of 900+ hours, or a non-Quebec DLI with a program of 8+ months.
- For applications submitted on or after November 1, 2024, graduation in an eligible field of study is required.

If you are studying Business Administration and are not eligible, you cannot apply for a PGWP.
